In Japan, the goal is to make renewable energy a key power source, with S+3E (Safety, Energy Security, Economic Efficiency, Environment) as the main premise. The next-generation power systems are being promoted, including strengthening cross-regional grid connections through long-distance direct current transmission (HVDC), increasing the capabilities of system operation and market collaboration, and further expanding storage capacities, e.g. using batteries.
