The movement towards a carbon-neutral society is accelerating around the world. In Japan, the goal is to make renewable energy a key power source, with S+3E (Safety, Energy Security, Economic Efficiency, Environment) as the main premise. The next-generation power systems are being promoted, including strengthening cross-regional grid connections through long-distance direct current transmission (HVDC), increasing the capabilities of system operation and market collaboration, and further expanding storage capacities, e.g. using batteries. This session will explain and discuss how to realize the next-generation power systems, using the Hitachi Group's extensive knowledge, and examples from Japan and overseas.
